GMPS Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GMPS protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GMPS (C-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GMPS protein, or guanine monophosphate synthetase, is a vital 693 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a crucial role in purine biosynthesis, specifically catalyzing the final step in the GMP synthesis pathway through the ATP-dependent amination of XMP to GMP. This enzymatic activity is essential for the production of purines, which are fundamental for energy metabolism, cell signaling, and the synthesis of nucleic acids. GMPS exists as a homodimer and features a GMP-binding domain along with a glutamine amidotransferase type-1 domain, which are critical for catalytic function. Notably, chromosomal translocations involving GMPS have been linked to acute myeloid leukemias, highlighting potential role in carcinogenesis and making GMPS a significant target for research in cancer biology.
