SEE ALSO...

Glut5 Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Glut5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Glut5 antibody (E-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glut5, encoded by the GLUT5 gene located on the short arm of human chromosome 1, consists of 501 amino acids and functions primarily as a facilitative transporter for fructose in the small intestine. Glut5′s role is crucial, enabling fructose absorption as a key alternative energy source, especially in diets rich in this carbohydrate. Glut5 expression increases significantly in response to a fructose-enriched diet, highlighting an adaptive function in nutrient absorption. Glut5 shows predominant expression in the small intestine, with lower levels in kidney, skeletal muscle, and adipose tissue, indicating specialized roles in nutrient uptake. Glut5 localization to enterocyte plasma membranes underscores importance in facilitating fructose transport across cellular barriers, contributing to overall metabolic homeostasis.

Hello, what is the optimal antigen retrieval method for the Glucose Transporter GLUT5 antibody (E-2, sc-271055) when performing immunohistochemistry?

Asked by: angel
Thanks for your question. Certain antigenic determinants are masked by formalin fixation and paraffin embedding and may be exposed by one of several methods: 1.Heat treatment (recommended method): Place slides in a container and cover with 10 mM sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0 (sc-294091); or with 50 mM glycine-HCl buffer (sc-29096), pH 3.5, with 0.01% (w/v) EDTA (sc-29092). Heat at 95° C for 5 minutes. Top off with fresh buffer and heat at 95° C for 5 minutes (optimal incubation time may vary for each tissue type). Allow slides to cool in the buffer for approximately 20 minutes. Wash in deionized H2O three times for 2 minutes each. Aspirate excess liquid from slides. 2.Pepsin: Incubate sections for 10–20 minutes in 0.1% Pepsin (sc-476554) in 0.01 N HCl at room temperature. Wash slides several times in deionized H2O. Aspirate excess liquid from slides. 3.Saponin: Incubate sections for 30 minutes in 0.05% Saponin (sc-280079) in deionized H2O at room temperature. Wash at least three times in PBS. Aspirate excess liquid from slides.

Are these antibodies phosphor-specific? I would like to make sure that I reduce the chances that background proteins will affect the results of a Western Blot.

Asked by: TI43
Thank you for your question. This mouse monoclonal antibody, Glut5 (E-2): sc-271055, is not phospho-specific. If an antibody is specific for only the phosphorylated form of a protein, we will describe the phospho-reactivity in the product information, including which phosphorylated residues are specifically targeted.

Hello , I have used your Atibody "Glut5 E-2 sc-271055" and it works very nicely, My advisor thinks its too good to be true. Do you have any competing peptide which I could use with this antibody as control, for IHC,and WB.

Asked by: fujeh
Thank you for your question. We do not provide the blocking peptide for this antibody. For additional information, please contact our Technical Service.
