SEE ALSO...

GluR-5 Antibody (E-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GluR-5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GluR-5 antibody (E-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GluR-5 protein, also known as glutamate ionotropic receptor kainate type subunit 1, plays a crucial role in mediating excitatory neurotransmission in the brain, which is essential for processes such as learning, memory, and synaptic plasticity. Located primarily in the postsynaptic membranes of excitatory synapses, GluR-5 is part of the kainate/AMPA receptor family, which is responsible for fast synaptic transmission. Proper functioning of GluR-5 is vital for maintaining the balance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the brain, and dysregulation of this receptor has been implicated in various neurological disorders, including epilepsy and neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, GluR-5 interacts with other proteins, such as the scaffolding protein PSD-95, which is important for receptor localization and signaling pathways. This interaction highlights the significance of GluR-5 in synaptic architecture and its potential impact on neuronal communication and health.
