Girdin Antibody (H-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects girdin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-girdin antibody (H-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Girdin, also known as CCDC88A (coiled-coil domain-containing protein 88A), APE, GRDN, GIV, or HkRP1, is a 1,871 amino acid protein that plays a pivotal role in cellular signaling and structural integrity. Girdin is primarily localized to the cell membrane and cytosol, where girdin interacts with phosphoinositides, enhancing the activity of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and promoting the phosphorylation of key proteins such as Akt1. This phosphorylation cascade is essential for regulating DNA replication and cellular proliferation, making girdin a critical player in cell growth and survival. Girdin is integral to cell migration, as girdin maintains the structural integrity of the actin cytoskeleton and regulates the formation of actin stress fibers. Girdin exists as a homodimer and can undergo phosphorylation, which leads to girdin delocalization from the cell membrane, thereby facilitating involvement in dynamic cell migration processes. Two isoforms of girdin arise from alternative splicing, contributing to functional diversity in various cellular contexts.
