GHR Antibody (MAB 5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects growth hormone receptor (GHR) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and flow cytometry (FCM). GHR is a crucial integral membrane protein that plays a significant role in mediating the effects of growth hormone, which is essential for regulating body growth and various metabolic processes. The importance of GHR extends beyond its primary function, as GHR is also a member of the cytokine receptor family, which is characterized by the presence of soluble forms of the protein. One such soluble form is the growth hormone-binding protein (GHBP), produced through the proteolytic cleavage of GHR′s extracellular domain. Notably, reduced levels of GHBP have been linked to growth hormone insensitivity syndrome, highlighting the clinical relevance of GHR in endocrine disorders. GHR is transcribed from at least two distinct promoters, resulting in two isoforms, GHR 1A and GHR 1B, both of which are expressed in the liver, while GHR 1B is additionally found in muscle, uterus, and ovarian tissues. The diverse expression patterns and functional implications of GHR underscore GHR′s significance in both normal physiology and disease states, making anti-GHR antibody (MAB 5) an invaluable tool for researchers studying growth hormone signaling pathways and related metabolic conditions.
