GHR Antibody (MAB 263) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects growth hormone receptor (GHR) in mouse, rat, human, and rabbit samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). GHR is a crucial integral membrane protein that plays a significant role in mediating the effects of growth hormone (GH), which is essential for regulating body growth and various metabolic processes. GHR (MAB 263) antibody belongs to the cytokine receptor family, known for existing in both membrane-bound and soluble forms. The soluble form, known as GH-binding protein (GHBP), is produced through proteolytic cleavage of GHR′s extracellular domain and serves to modulate GH activity in the bloodstream. Notably, reduced GHBP levels are linked to growth hormone insensitivity syndrome, highlighting GHR′s clinical relevance in growth regulation. GHR is transcribed from at least two distinct promoters, resulting in two isoforms, GHR 1A and GHR 1B, with GHR 1A and 1B being expressed in the liver, while GHR 1B is additionally found in muscle, uterus, and ovary tissues, underscoring diverse physiological roles. Anti-GHR antibody (MAB 263) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the complexities of growth hormone signaling and implications in health and disease.

Can GHR (MAB 263): sc-57161 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, GHR (MAB 263): sc-57161 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
