SEE ALSO...

GGPS1 Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GGPS1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GGPS1 (E-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GGPS1, also known as geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase 1, GGPPS, or GGPPSase, is a crucial enzyme in the FPP/GGPP synthetase family of trans-prenyltransferases, primarily expressed in the testis, heart, and skeletal muscle. GGPS1 is localized in the cytoplasm, where GGPS1 catalyzes the synthesis of geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (GGPP), a vital precursor for the post-translational modification of proteins through geranylgeranylation, which is essential for proper functioning of various signaling pathways. GGPP formation is particularly important as GGPP regulates the activity of the nuclear hormone receptor LXRα, influencing lipid metabolism and cellular homeostasis. GGPS1 functions as an oligomeric molecule, facilitating the condensation of farnesyl diphosphate with isopentenyl diphosphate to produce GGPP. GGPS1 contains five conserved amino acid motifs characteristic of trans-prenyltransferases and features three potential N-glycosylation sites, which may play a role in enzymatic activity and stability.

What is the recommended fixation method for immunofluorescence staining with GGPS1 (E-1): sc-271680 monoclonal antibody?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10°C methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
