GGPL-III Antibody (LIII-63) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects the GGPL-III protein of Mycoplasma fermentans origin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GGPL-III antibody (LIII-63) is available as the non-conjugated format. GGPL-III protein plays a crucial role in the unique choline metabolic pathway of Mycoplasma fermentans, which is responsible for generating phosphocholine-containing glycoglycerolipids, including 6′-O-phosphocholine-alpha-glucopyranosyl-(1′-3)-1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol (GGPL-I) and 1′-phosphocholine,2′-amino dihydroxypropane-3′-phospho-6′-alpha-glucopyranosyl-(1′-3)-1,2-diacyl-glycerol (GGPL-III). This metabolic pathway contributes to Mycoplasma fermentans′ ability to adapt and thrive in various environments, including human mucosal tissues, where Mycoplasma fermentans is found in approximately 45% of healthy adults. GGPL-III presence is particularly noteworthy in human health, as antibodies to GGPL-III appear significantly elevated in sera of individuals infected with HIV-1 compared to healthy donors, suggesting a potential role of Mycoplasma fermentans in the pathogenesis of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). These findings highlight GGPL-III significance in microbial metabolism and human disease, making GGPL-III monoclonal antibody (LIII-63) valuable for research and diagnostic applications.
