SEE ALSO...

Gβ 5 Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects G beta 5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). G beta 5 (C-6) antibody is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. G beta 5 protein plays a crucial role in regulating G protein signaling pathways, particularly in the central nervous system where G beta 5 is highly expressed. G beta 5 protein is unique among beta subunits due to forming stable complexes with RGS (regulator of G protein signaling) proteins, which enhances GTPase activity of G alpha subunits, accelerating G protein signaling termination. This interaction maintains balanced signaling pathways controlling neurotransmission and hormone signaling. G beta 5′s distinct structure, including a long C-terminal tail, enables specific interactions with RGS proteins, distinguishing G beta 5 from other beta subunits lacking this feature. Understanding G beta 5′s function and interactions helps explain G beta 5′s role in health and disease, particularly in neurodegenerative disorders and metabolic diseases where G protein signaling becomes disrupted.
