Gα q/11/14 Antibody (G-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects G alpha q/11/14 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gα q/11/14 (G-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. G alpha q/11/14 protein plays a crucial role in cellular signaling as a member of the heterotrimeric G protein family, which transmits signals from activated receptors on the cell surface to intracellular effectors. Specifically, G alpha q/11/14 proteins are involved in the activation of phospholipase C, leading to the production of inositol trisphosphate and diacylglycerol, which are vital for calcium signaling and various cellular responses. This signaling pathway is essential for numerous physiological processes, including muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, and cell proliferation. G alpha q/11/14 proteins are particularly abundant in the brain and lungs, where these proteins mediate responses to a variety of extracellular signals, highlighting their importance in both central nervous system function and respiratory physiology.

I am working on a non-traditional worm model and was recommended by another colleague that I try this antibody to detect photoreceptor cells in the tail segments of my worm, Lumbriculus variegatus. Is it possible to receive a sample size for testing?

Asked by: vgmmartinez
Please contact our Technical Service Department for more information on how to receive a free 10 ug sample of this monoclonal antibody.

Can Gα q/11/14 (G-7): sc-365906 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Gα q/11/14 (G-7): sc-365906 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much improvedI received a sample of this antibody as a replacement for the polyclonal E-17 (SC393) that is being discontinued. I compared the two side-by-side, overexpressing Galpha q in knockout cells. For the old polyclonal, the band of interest was barely distinguishable even in an overexpressed system; it was much less intense than dozens of nonspecific bands. For G-7, the band of interest was clear and intense; only one nonspecific band of anywhere close to a comparable intensity appeared, and it was at a much lower molecular weight (<20kDa). I have not attempted to detect endogenous levels of Galpha q with this antibody yet.
