Gα i-1 Antibody (R4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Gα i-1 in mouse, rat, human, and bovine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Gα i-1 antibody (R4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Gα i-1 plays a crucial role in cellular signaling as a member of the heterotrimeric G protein family, which transmits signals from cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors. Specifically, Gα i-1 is involved in inhibiting adenylate cyclase activity, leading to a decrease in cyclic AMP levels, which is vital for regulating various physiological processes such as neurotransmitter release, hormone secretion, and cell growth. Gα i-1 interaction with specific receptors and downstream effectors allows modulation of diverse signaling pathways, making Gα i-1 an important target for research in areas such as cardiovascular health, neurobiology, and cancer. Understanding Gα i-1 function and interactions can provide insights into the mechanisms of diseases and potential therapeutic targets.

Has this antibody tested if it cross-react with the drosophila ortholog Gai. Thanks

Asked by: curious researcher
Thank you for your question.Gα i-1 (R4) is recommended for mouse, rat. human and bovine. There is a 77%homology in drosophila. We only warranty if the homology is 95% or higher.

Is sc-13533 (Gα i-1 -R4-) tested for cross-reactivity with Gα0 and Gα-i 2 & 3 isoforms

Asked by: Miguelon
Thank you for your question. sc-13533 is specific for Gα i-1, and should not cross-react with any other Gα forms.

Can Gα i-1 (R4): sc-13533 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Gα i-1 (R4): sc-13533 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
