Gα 13 (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Gα 13 of mouse, rat and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gα 13 (A-6) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form, as well as multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Heterotrimeric G proteins relay information from cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors. Each receptor specifically detects an extracellular stimulus (a photon, pheromone, odorant, hormone or neurotransmitter) while effectors (i.e., adenyl cyclase), which generate intracellular messengers, are less numerous. In mammals, G protein α, β and γ polypeptides are encoded by at least 16, 4 and 7 genes, respectively. Most research on G proteins has focused on α subunits, since these proteins bind and hydrolyze GTP and regulate the activity of well-studied effectors. Four distinct classes of Gα subunits have been identified: Gα s, Gα i, Gα q and Gα 12/13. The two members of the fourth class, Gα 12 and Gα 13, are insensitive to ADP-ribosylation by pertussis toxin, share 67% identity with each other and less than 45% identity with other Gα subunits, and are widely expressed across tissues.
