Galectin-4 Antibody (H-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects galectin-4 in human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Galectin-4, also known as Gal-4, L36, or LGALS4, belongs to the galectin family of soluble beta-galactoside-binding lectins that play crucial roles in cell adhesion, tumor progression, and apoptosis. Anti-galectin-4 antibody (H-8) recognizes a protein composed of 323 amino acids with two homologous carbohydrate recognition domains, which are essential for binding to glycoproteins and glycolipids, influencing cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix interactions. Galectin-4 is expressed in epithelial cells of the colon, rectum, and intestine, and expression levels correlate with malignant potential of human hepatocellular carcinoma. Galectin-4 shows reduced expression in colorectal cancer, highlighting potential as a biomarker for cancer progression and therapeutic target. Galectin-4′s ability to modulate cellular responses based on environmental cues, such as cell-cell contact and growth factors, underscores significance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and potential role in cancer metastasis.
