galectin-4 Antibody (D-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects galectin-4 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-galectin-4 antibody (D-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Galectin-4, also known as LGALS4, is a member of the galectin family, which consists of soluble β-galactoside-binding lectins that play crucial roles in modulating cell-to-cell adhesion and interactions with the extracellular matrix, thereby influencing processes such as tumor progression, pre-mRNA splicing, and apoptosis. Galectin-4, composed of 323 amino acids, features two homologous carbohydrate recognition domains and retains the conserved amino acids characteristic of the galectin family. Notably, galectin-4 is primarily expressed in epithelial cells of the colon, rectum, and intestine, and expression levels are closely associated with the malignant potential of human hepatocellular carcinoma. Galectin-4 is underexpressed in colorectal cancer, yet preferentially upregulated in cells prone to peritoneal dissemination, highlighting potential as a biomarker for cancer progression and a target for therapeutic intervention.
