    SEE ALSO...

Galectin-4 Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects galectin-4 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Galectin-4, also known as Gal-4, L36, or LGALS4, is a member of the galectin family, which consists of soluble β-galactoside-binding lectins that play crucial roles in various biological processes, including cell adhesion, tumor progression, and apoptosis. Anti-galectin-4 antibody (C-6) recognizes a protein composed of 323 amino acids featuring two homologous carbohydrate recognition domains, which are essential for binding to glycoproteins and glycolipids, thereby influencing cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix interactions. Notably, galectin-4 is primarily expressed in epithelial cells of the colon, rectum, and intestine, and expression levels are closely associated with the malignant potential of human hepatocellular carcinoma. Galectin-4 is underexpressed in colorectal cancer, suggesting a potential role as a tumor suppressor, while upregulation in cells prone to peritoneal dissemination highlights significance in cancer metastasis. The ability of galectin-4 to modulate cellular interactions and differential regulation based on various physiological conditions make this protein critical for understanding tumor biology and developing therapeutic strategies.
