SEE ALSO...

Folliculin Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects folliculin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-folliculin antibody (D-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Folliculin protein plays a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways, particularly in the regulation of mTOR (mechanistic target of rapamycin) signaling, which is essential for cell growth, proliferation, and survival. Dysregulation of mTOR signaling is implicated in various diseases, including cancer, making folliculin studies particularly important in understanding tumorigenesis. Birt-Hogg-Dubé (BHD) syndrome, a rare autosomal dominant cancer syndrome associated with mutations in the folliculin gene, is characterized by kidney tumors, benign hair follicle tumors, and spontaneous pneumothorax. The BHD gene is located on chromosome 17p11.2 and is widely expressed in tissues such as the kidney, lung, and skin, where BHD tumors typically arise. The (C)8 tract in exon 11 of the folliculin gene is a mutational hotspot, and BHD syndrome exhibits reduced penetrance or late onset, with studies showing a mean of 5.3 renal tumors per patient among 30 BHD patients, highlighting the importance of early detection and monitoring in affected individuals.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-271558 P appropriate for?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
