FKBP8 Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FKBP8 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FKBP8 (C-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FKBP8 protein, also known as FK506 binding protein 8 or FKBPr38, plays a crucial role in immunoregulation, protein folding, and trafficking within neurons, which are essential processes for memory function. Notably, FKBP8 is involved in regulating hedgehog (HH) signaling pathways, which are vital for proper patterning and growth of various tissues during embryonic development. FKBP8 presence in the central nervous system allows modulation of HH signaling, thereby influencing neuronal development and function. Additionally, FKBP8 interacts with presenilin 1 and 2, forming molecular complexes that promote FKBPr38 and Bcl-2 degradation, sequestering these proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus, which inhibits mitochondrial targeting of Bcl-2 independent of γ-secretase activity. In adult mouse brains, FKBP8 mRNA is predominantly expressed in neurons and glial cells, with notable concentration in the hippocampal formation, highlighting significance in neurobiology and potential implications in neurodegenerative diseases.
