SEE ALSO...

Factor H Antibody (OX23) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Factor H in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Factor H is a crucial serum glycoprotein composed of 1213 amino acids, organized into 20 short consensus repeats (SCRs), which are essential for diverse functions in the immune system. Factor H (OX23) antibody recognizes a protein that plays a pivotal role in regulating the alternative complement pathway, acting as a cofactor for Factor I, which inactivates C3b, thereby preventing excessive complement activation that can lead to tissue damage. Factor H also engages in various interactions outside the complement system, including binding to the integrin receptor CD11b/CD18 and associating with glycosaminoglycans on cell surfaces, which is vital for modulating immune responses and maintaining cellular homeostasis. Deficiencies in Factor H are linked to acute renal diseases, highlighting Factor H′s significance in both health and disease. Anti-Factor H antibody (OX23) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying the complement system and its implications in various pathological conditions.

Can Factor H (OX23): sc-53066 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. Yes, Factor H (OX23): sc-53066 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
