eRF1 Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects eRF1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). eRF1 (B-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. eRF1 plays a crucial role in the termination of protein synthesis, a vital process that ensures the accurate completion of translation. eRF1 functions by recognizing stop codons in the ribosomal A site, where eRF1 promotes the hydrolysis of the last peptidyl-tRNA, effectively releasing the newly synthesized polypeptide chain. eRF1′s activity is significantly enhanced through interaction with the GTP-binding protein eRF3, forming a quaternary complex essential for function. This complex positions eRF1 correctly towards the stop codon and peptidyl-tRNA in the "GTP state" and facilitates the release of eRFs from the ribosome in the "GDP state." eRF1 contains a highly conserved Asn-Ile-Lys-Ser (NIKS) tetrapeptide, which is critical for interaction with the ribosome, underscoring the importance of structural integrity in the termination process. The gene encoding human eRF1 is located on chromosome 5q31.2, highlighting evolutionary conservation and significance across species.
