ErbB-3 Antibody (SGP1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody developed to target ErbB-3, raised against ErbB-3 purified from transfected human kidney fibroblasts. ErbB-3 monoclonal antibody (SGP1) demonstrates robust species reactivity, effectively detecting ErbB-3 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as immunoprecipitation (IP), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). ErbB-3, also called FERLK, HER3, LCCS2, MDA-BF-1, VSCN1, erbB3-S, and ERBB3, is a member of the ErbB family of receptor tyrosine kinases, and is integral to cellular signaling pathways that regulate cell growth, differentiation, and survival. Structurally, ErbB-3 comprises an extracellular ligand-binding domain, a single transmembrane region, and an intracellular domain that contains multiple tyrosine residues essential for downstream signaling. Unlike other ErbB family members, ErbB-3 has impaired kinase activity, which necessitates dimerization with other ErbB receptors such as ErbB-2 (HER2) to activate critical signaling pathways like the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway. This structural configuration is pivotal for mediating interactions with ligands such as heregulin, facilitating the formation of homodimers or heterodimers that drive oncogenic processes including tumor progression and resistance to therapeutic interventions. The precise arrangement of ErbB-3′s extracellular and intracellular domains is crucial for its role in cancer biology, where ErbB-3 is often overexpressed or mutated, contributing to the aggressiveness and treatment resistance of various carcinomas, particularly human mammary tumors. By utilizing anti-ErbB-3 antibody (SGP1), researchers can investigate the expression levels, protein interactions, and functional dynamics of ErbB-3, thereby advancing the understanding of cancer mechanisms and the development of targeted therapies. Available in both non-conjugated form and multiple conjugated variants, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, ErbB-3 (SGP1) antibody offers exceptional versatility for a wide range of experimental applications in oncology and molecular biology, making this research tool indispensable for cutting-edge research and therapeutic development.

Can ErbB-3 (SGP1): sc-53279 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, ErbB-3 (SGP1): sc-53279 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
