Epo Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects erythropoietin (Epo) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Epo (B-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Erythropoietin is a crucial glycoprotein composed of 165 amino acids, primarily synthesized in the kidneys, and plays a vital role in regulating erythropoiesis, the process of red blood cell formation. This regulation is particularly important during steady-state conditions and in response to blood loss or hemorrhage, ensuring adequate oxygen delivery throughout the body. Epo achieves this by stimulating the proliferation and maturation of erythroid precursor cells in the bone marrow. The Epo receptor (EpoR), a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, erythroid progenitors, and endothelial cells, mediates the effects of Epo, and EpoR overexpression is linked to various pathophysiological conditions, including polycythemia vera, which arises from the Epo-independent growth of erythrocytic progenitors from abnormal stem cells. Conversely, a deficiency in Epo expression can lead to conditions such as anemia of chronic disease, commonly observed in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
