Epilysin Antibody (F-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects human Epilysin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Epilysin antibody (F-10) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Epilysin, also known as matrix metalloproteinase-28 (MMP-28), is a secreted protein belonging to the peptidase M10A family and plays a crucial role in extracellular matrix degradation, vital for normal physiological processes such as tissue remodeling, reproduction, and embryonic development. Proliferating keratinocytes produce Epilysin, which degrades casein and shows increased expression following skin injury, suggesting a role in tissue repair and homeostasis. Epilysin functions predominantly in the nervous system, demonstrated by degradation of myelin proteins when incubated with rat embryonic brain tissue. In Xenopus, Epilysin localizes to nerves and shows upregulation during neurulation, suggesting an evolutionarily conserved role in neural development and potential involvement in modulating the axonal-glial extracellular environment, highlighting significance in both tissue repair and neural function.
