SEE ALSO...

Ep-CAM Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Ep-CAM of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Ep-CAM antibody (C-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The epithelial cell adhesion molecule, also known as tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 1 and MK-1, is a crucial monomeric membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed in normal human epithelial tissues and various carcinomas. The human Ep-CAM gene encodes a 314 amino acid protein that exists in two forms, with the major form being significantly reduced upon treatment with the amino-glycosylation inhibitor tunicamycin. Ep-CAM plays a vital role in cell adhesion, which is essential for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating cellular communication. Ep-CAM′s overexpression in numerous carcinomas makes this protein a promising target for both visualization and therapeutic intervention of human solid tumors. Ep-CAM features an extracellular domain that includes two epidermal growth factor-like repeats, followed by a cysteine-poor region, which is critical for adhesive properties, thereby underscoring Ep-CAM′s importance in cancer biology and potential as a biomarker for tumor progression.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with Ep-CAM (C-10): sc-25308?

Asked by: jenni
We, recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins (m-IgGκ) conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very weak signal in WB (after IP)I used this antibody for Western Blot (1:200, 5% Milk/TBST) on a 2D WB membrane after EpCAM immunoprecipitation in HCT116 cells. I have observed very weak signal (as compared to other tested Anti-EpCAM antibodies). It definitely needs some sample-dependent optimization.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad results with Flow Citometry and Western BlotI received this as a free sample. I tried it with two different dilutions for FACS. First I tried with 1ul of antibody per 200000 cells and it didn´t work. Then I tried it with a dilution 2ul per 200000 cells and I neither got any good result. I also did Western Blot and I obteined a nonespecific signal in 20kDa (Molecular weight of EpCAM: 40kDa). For western blot I used a dilution 1:100.
