Ep-CAM Antibody (B302) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Ep-CAM in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Ep-CAM, also known as tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 1 and MK-1, is a monomeric membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed in normal human epithelial tissues and various carcinomas, making anti-Ep-CAM antibody (B302) a significant marker for cancer research. The human Ep-CAM gene encodes a 314 amino acid protein that exists in two forms, with the major form being more prevalent and the minor form being reduced upon treatment with the amino-glycosylation inhibitor tunicamycin. Notably, Ep-CAM plays a crucial role in cell adhesion due to its extracellular domain, which contains two epidermal growth factor-like repeats followed by a cysteine-poor region; this structural feature is essential for adhesive properties and contributes to the maintenance of tissue integrity. Given Ep-CAM′s overexpression in numerous carcinomas, Ep-CAM monoclonal antibody (B302) serves as a valuable tool for visualizing human solid tumors and holds potential for therapeutic interventions in cancer biology and treatment strategies.
