Elongin A Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Elongin A of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Elongin A antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Elongin A plays a crucial role in the regulation of gene expression as part of the Elongin (SIII) complex, which is essential for the transcriptional elongation of RNA polymerase II. This complex is composed of Elongin A, along with two regulatory subunits, Elongin B and Elongin C. Elongin A facilitates the recruitment of RNA polymerase II to the promoter regions of genes, thereby enhancing transcriptional efficiency. Additionally, individuals with germline mutations in the tumor suppressor gene von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) are predisposed to various tumors, including renal carcinoma and hemangioblastoma, due to the disruption of the VHL-Elongin complex interaction, which normally regulates the activity of the Elongin (SIII) complex. Using Elongin A (A-5) monoclonal antibody in research can provide valuable insights into transcription regulation mechanisms and VHL mutation implications in tumorigenesis.
