ELKS Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ELKS in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ELKS, also known as Rab6-interacting protein 2 or CAZ-associated structural protein (CAST), is a crucial member of the RIM-binding protein family, which plays a significant role in the regulation of neurotransmitter release at presynaptic active zones. ELKS protein′s primary function involves the recruitment of IκBα to the IκB kinase (IKK) complex, thereby modulating IKK activation and influencing various signaling pathways. ELKS exists in five isoforms—Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon—each exhibiting unique coding region differences and distinct C-termini, which contribute to their specific functions and interactions. Only the brain-specific isoforms of ELKS are capable of binding to RIMs, while both ubiquitous and brain-specific isoforms interact with Rab6, a GTP-binding protein essential for membrane trafficking at the Golgi complex. ELKS involvement in pathological conditions includes fusion to RET due to the translocation t(10;12)(q11;p13), which is associated with the development of papillary thyroid carcinoma. Anti-ELKS antibody (E-1) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying this protein′s intricate roles in cellular signaling and disease mechanisms.
