ELKS Antibody (G-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ELKS protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ELKS (G-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ELKS protein, also known as Rab6-interacting protein 2 and CAZ-associated structural protein (CAST), plays a crucial role in synaptic transmission as a member of the RIM-binding protein family, which is essential for regulating neurotransmitter release at presynaptic active zones. ELKS protein′s ability to interact with RIMs and Rab6, a GTP-binding protein involved in membrane trafficking at the Golgi complex, highlights ELKS protein′s importance in maintaining synaptic integrity and facilitating communication between neurons. Notably, ELKS exists in five isoforms—Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon—each exhibiting distinct coding region differences and unique C-termini, with only the brain-specific isoforms binding to RIMs. The aberrant fusion of ELKS to RET due to the translocation t(10;12)(q11;p13) has been implicated in the development of papillary thyroid carcinoma, underscoring ELKS protein′s significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
