eIF4B Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects eIF4B in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). eIF4B, or eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4B, is a crucial 611 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in the regulation of protein synthesis by facilitating the binding of mRNA to ribosomes, a process essential for the translation of genetic information into functional proteins. eIF4B contains one RNA recognition motif and interacts with other members of the eIF4 family, such as eIF4A, enhancing the ATP-dependent unwinding activity necessary for the initiation of translation. eIF4B′s importance extends beyond its structural role; eIF4B is vital for the proper assembly of the translation initiation complex, which ensures that protein synthesis occurs efficiently and accurately. The gene encoding eIF4B is located on human chromosome 12, a region that harbors over 1,100 genes and constitutes approximately 4.5% of the human genome, highlighting eIF4B′s significance in cellular function and gene expression regulation. With its ability to facilitate critical interactions in the early stages of translation, eIF4B is a key player in maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to various physiological stimuli.
