DUOX2 Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DUOX2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DUOX2 (E-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DUOX2 protein, also known as NADPH thyroid oxidase 2, plays a critical role in generating reactive oxygen species, particularly hydrogen peroxide, which is essential for thyroid hormone biosynthesis and antimicrobial defense in mucosal tissues. DUOX2 is primarily localized to the apical membrane of epithelial cells, including those in the thyroid, trachea, colon, and duodenum, where DUOX2 functions alongside DUOX1 to produce hydrogen peroxide necessary for the activity of thyroid peroxidase and lactoperoxidase. Proper functioning of DUOX2 is vital, as defects in the gene encoding DUOX2 can lead to congenital hypothyroidism, a condition marked by insufficient hydrogen peroxide production in the thyroid gland, ultimately affecting thyroid hormone levels and overall metabolic regulation.
