SEE ALSO...

DsRed Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects DsRed protein in non-species reactive applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-DsRed antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. DsRed protein, a red fluorescent protein derived from Discosoma coral, is notable for exceptional stability under extreme pH conditions and resistance to photobleaching, making DsRed an invaluable tool in fluorescence microscopy and live-cell imaging. One of the key features of DsRed is post-translational modifications, particularly the maturation process that leads to a significant red-shift in fluorescence from 558 nm to 583 nm upon maturation. This maturation not only enhances brightness but also allows for effective use of DsRed in dual-reporter systems alongside green fluorescent proteins, enabling researchers to visualize and differentiate between multiple proteins in complex biological systems. The ability to utilize DsRed in various expression systems, including bacterial, insect, and mammalian hosts, further underscores DsRed′s importance in molecular biology and biochemistry, facilitating the study of protein interactions and cellular dynamics.

Is this antibody recognise tdTomato as well?

Asked by: Michsh
Thank you for your question. We have not tested this antibody for its reactivity with dTomato. Due to the mismatches between the amino acid sequences of dTomato and DsRed, it is likely that the antibody will not be able to detect dTomato.
