dsg2 Antibody (AH12.2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects dsg2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. dsg2 Antibody (AH12.2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. dsg2 protein, a member of the desmoglein family, plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, particularly at desmosomes, which are specialized cell junctions that provide mechanical strength to tissues. dsg2 protein is essential for maintaining the integrity of epithelial tissues, and dysfunction is implicated in autoimmune diseases such as pemphigus, where autoantibodies target desmogleins, leading to blistering and loss of cell adhesion. Notably, dsg2 is the largest desmoglein and is expressed in all desmosome-containing tissues, highlighting a fundamental role in cellular architecture. Expression patterns of desmogleins can vary significantly in cancerous cells compared to normal keratinocytes, with squamous cell carcinoma often showing altered levels of dsg3 and dsg1, which are associated with pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus, respectively. This aberrant expression may be linked to tumor progression, including invasion and metastasis, making dsg2 a critical protein for understanding both normal cellular function and pathological conditions.
