SEE ALSO...

DNase I Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DNase I protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DNase I (B-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DNase I plays a crucial role in apoptosis by mediating internucleosomal DNA fragmentation, which is a hallmark of programmed cell death. This Ca2+/Mg2+-dependent endonuclease is widely expressed across mammalian tissues and is essential for the degradation of DNA in cells undergoing apoptosis, ensuring the orderly dismantling of cellular components. DNase I is highly polymorphic, with at least six known alleles, and DNase I activity is complemented by DNase II, which operates downstream of caspase activation and also contributes to DNA degradation during apoptosis. While DNase I is predominantly localized in the nuclei of epithelial and fiber cells, DNase II is typically found in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells, with a notable concentration in the nuclei of lens fibers. Understanding the distinct roles and localization of these enzymes is vital for elucidating the mechanisms of apoptosis and their implications in various diseases, including cancer.
