DNA pol µ Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DNA pol µ of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-DNA pol µ antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DNA polymerase µ is particularly noteworthy for its unique ability to incorporate both deoxynucleotides and ribonucleotides during DNA synthesis, which distinguishes DNA polymerase µ from other DNA polymerases that typically exhibit substrate specificity for deoxynucleotides alone. This dual incorporation capability suggests that DNA polymerase µ may play a critical role in DNA repair processes, particularly in microhomology-mediated end joining, which is essential for the repair of double-stranded breaks. The presence of ribonucleotides in DNA can influence structural integrity and functionality of resulting DNA, making DNA polymerase µ and its interactions vital for understanding cellular responses to DNA damage and maintenance of genomic stability.
