DNA Ligase I Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DNA Ligase I protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-DNA Ligase I antibody (C-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DNA Ligase I (C-5) antibody recognizes a protein that plays a crucial role in DNA replication and repair, primarily by joining Okazaki fragments during lagging strand synthesis, which is essential for maintaining genomic stability in proliferating cells. DNA Ligase I (C-5) monoclonal antibody detects a protein involved in sealing nicks during excision repair, ensuring DNA molecule integrity. DNA Ligase I′s structure is characterized by a common catalytic core, which is vital for ligase activity. Elevated levels of DNA Ligase I have been observed in various human tumors compared to benign tissues, indicating potential as a biomarker for cancer progression. DNA Ligase I activity is altered in Bloom′s syndrome, a chromosomal breakage disorder, where individuals may exhibit decreased levels of a thermolabile form of the enzyme or a dimeric variant. This highlights DNA Ligase I′s importance in normal cellular processes and disease, making DNA Ligase I (C-5) antibody valuable for research in cancer biology and genetic disorders.
