SEE ALSO...

DISC-1 Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects DISC-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DISC-1 (B-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DISC-1 protein, encoded by the "Disrupted In Schizophrenia" gene locus, plays a crucial role in neuronal development and function, particularly in processes such as intracellular transport and neuronal migration, which are essential for proper brain architecture and signaling. DISC-1 protein interacts with several key proteins, including MIPT3, MAP1A, and nudel, which are critical for centrosome and cytoskeletal organization, as well as α-actinin-2 and spectrin β IV, which are important for receptor localization to membranes. DISC-1 protein is integral to maintaining neuronal integrity and function, and dysregulation is associated with schizophrenia, as evidenced by altered localization in mutant forms that predominantly reside in the cytoplasm rather than the nucleus. DISC-1 protein interactions with various signaling proteins, such as ATF-4 and ATF-5, further underscore its importance in transducing signals from membrane receptors, thereby influencing neuronal health and behavior.

What is the recommended fixation method for immunofluorescence staining with DISC-1 (B-2): sc-365591 monoclonal antibody?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10°C methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good western blot detection in mouse samplesI tried this antibody for western blot on samples from primary neurons as well as whole brain tissue from mice and detected strong signal. It may be picking up alternative splice isoforms as well because I see multiple bands above the strongest signal. Used at 1:1000 and signal was great.
