DHRS6 Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects DHRS6 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DHRS6, also known as dehydrogenase/reductase SDR family member 6, EFA6R, SDR15C1, UCPA-OR, UNQ6308, or BDH2, is a 245 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family, which is an evolutionarily conserved group of oxidoreductases found across all forms of life. DHRS6 plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism, particularly in the peripheral utilization of 3-hydroxybutyrate, a key energy substrate during periods of fasting or low carbohydrate intake. The cytoplasmic localization of DHRS6 allows for efficient conversion of high levels of circulating 3-hydroxybutyrate into acetoacetate, a process vital for maintaining energy homeostasis in cells. DHRS6′s high ratio of oxidized NAD+ and NAD+-dependent kinetics further enhance this conversion, underscoring its importance in metabolic pathways. With an ability to exist as two alternatively spliced isoforms, DHRS6 may also serve as a critical nutrient or building block for cellular survival, making DHRS6 a valuable target for research in metabolic disorders and energy regulation.
