SEE ALSO...

DHODH Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects DHODH protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-DHODH antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DHODH, or dihydroorotate dehydrogenase, is a crucial 395 amino acid mitochondrial enzyme located on the outer surface of the inner mitochondrial membrane, where DHODH plays a vital role in the fourth step of de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis. This metabolic pathway is essential for nucleic acid synthesis, making DHODH a significant target for cancer chemotherapy agents. Additionally, DHODH is intricately linked to the respiratory chain, facilitating the transfer of electrons to ubiquinone, which is critical for cellular respiration and energy production. DHODH features a bipartite signal at its N-terminus that governs translocation into the mitochondrial inner membrane, highlighting the importance of proper localization for function. Furthermore, DHODH activity can be inhibited by nitric oxide, which indirectly affects cytochrome c oxidase, leading to potential immunosuppressive and antiproliferative effects in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.
