Dermcidin Antibody (H-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Dermcidin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Dermcidin antibody (H-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Dermcidin, encoded by the Dermcidin gene, plays a crucial role in the innate immune response by producing antimicrobial peptides, particularly DCD-1, which is secreted from sweat glands and acts as a first line of defense against pathogenic microorganisms. This antimicrobial activity is vital for maintaining skin integrity and preventing infections, especially in areas prone to moisture. Notably, Dermcidin expression is not only essential for skin health but has also been implicated in breast cancer, where overexpression can enhance cell proliferation and survival, often associated with a focal copy number gain on chromosome 12q13.2. Dermcidin′s ability to modulate immune responses and involvement in cancer biology make this protein a significant target for research and therapeutic applications.
