DcpS Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects DcpS protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DcpS (A-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DcpS plays a crucial role in mRNA degradation, specifically functioning as a scavenger pyrophosphatase that hydrolyzes the residual cap structure after the 3′ to 5′ decay of mRNA. This process is vital for cellular regulation of gene expression and the recycling of nucleotides, as DcpS releases N-7 methyl guanosine monophosphate and 5′-diphosphate terminated cap products following mRNA degradation. The central histidine within the DcpS HIT motif is essential for decapping activity, establishing the HIT motif as a novel mRNA decapping domain and positioning DcpS as the first member of the HIT protein family with a defined biological function. Notably, HIT proteins are characterized by their homodimeric structure and contain two conserved 100-amino-acid HIT fold domains, each with independent active sites capable of binding and hydrolyzing their respective substrates, underscoring the importance of DcpS in mRNA metabolism and cellular homeostasis.
