DCI Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DCI protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-DCI antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DCI, or Dodecenoyl-CoA isomerase, is a crucial 302 amino acid protein localized in the mitochondrial matrix, where DCI plays a vital role in lipid metabolism. DCI belongs to the enoyl-CoA hydratase/isomerase family and functions as a homotrimer, catalyzing the conversion of both 3-trans and 3-cis double bonds into 2-trans double bonds in various enoyl-CoA substrates. DCI′s enzymatic activity is essential for the beta-oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids, which is critical for energy production and maintaining cellular lipid homeostasis. DCI is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 16, which is associated with several genetic disorders, including giant axonal neuropathy and Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome. The presence of two alternatively spliced isoforms of DCI further highlights the complexity of DCI regulation and function within the cell, making DCI a significant target for research in metabolic disorders and mitochondrial function.
