DCAF17 Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DCAF17 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DCAF17 (B-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DCAF17, or DDB1 and CUL4 associated factor 17, is a multi-pass membrane protein that plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-proteasome system, functioning as a substrate receptor for the CUL-4-DDB1 E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex. DCAF17 is characterized by extreme splicing variability, resulting in two major isoforms, alpha and beta, which encode proteins of 240 and 520 amino acids, respectively; notably, the alpha isoform shares the final 240 amino acids with the beta isoform. DCAF17 is ubiquitously expressed, with highest levels found in the brain, liver, and skin, and has been shown to colocalize with nucleolar phosphoprotein B23 in human embryonic kidney (HEK293) cells. DCAF17 interacts with key proteins such as DDB1, CUL-4A, and CUL-4B, highlighting its importance in cellular processes. Defects in DCAF17 are associated with Woodhouse-Sakati syndrome, a rare autosomal recessive disorder that manifests with symptoms including hypogonadism, alopecia, diabetes mellitus, mental retardation, and extrapyramidal syndrome, underscoring DCAF17′s significance in human health.
