SEE ALSO...

Cytokeratin 17 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Cytokeratin 17 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Cytokeratin 17 antibody (E-4) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytokeratin 17, also known as KRT17, is a crucial member of the cytokeratin subfamily of intermediate filament proteins, comprising 432 amino acids. KRT17 is predominantly expressed in the basal cells of complex epithelia, including the nail bed, hair follicle, and sebaceous glands, but is absent in stratified or simple epithelia. KRT17′s unique expression pattern plays a vital role in maintaining the structural integrity and function of epithelial tissues. KRT17 interacts with various proteins, including the adaptor protein 14-3-3-sigma, which is essential for regulating cell growth and size by mediating protein synthesis. Mutations in the KRT17 gene can lead to impaired protein translation and reduced keratinocyte size, which is associated with decreased Akt/mTOR signaling activity. Cytokeratin 17 monoclonal antibody (E-4) may serve as a valuable marker for identifying cervical stem cells, as well as in the study of squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx, respiratory syncytial virus, and transitional cell carcinomas of the human urinary tract.

I am using Cytokeratin 17 (E-4): sc-393002 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
