SEE ALSO...

Cytokeratin 17 Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Cytokeratin 17 (CK17) in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CK17 is a member of the Cytokeratin subfamily of intermediate filament proteins, consisting of 432 amino acids, and is predominantly expressed in basal cells of complex epithelia, such as those found in nail bed, hair follicle, and sebaceous glands, while being absent in stratified or simple epithelia. CK17′s unique expression pattern is crucial for regulating cell growth and size, as CK17 interacts with adaptor protein 14-3-3-sigma to mediate protein synthesis. Mutations in CK17 can lead to impaired protein translation and reduced size of skin keratinocytes, which is associated with decreased Akt/mTOR signaling activity. CK17 serves as a valuable marker for identifying cervical stem cells, as well as for diagnosing squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx, respiratory syncytial virus infections, and transitional cell carcinomas of the human urinary tract. Anti-Cytokeratin 17 antibody (D-4) is an essential tool for researchers studying epithelial biology and related pathologies.

I am using Cytokeratin 17 (D-4): sc-393091 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Germaine
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
