SEE ALSO...

CYP1A2 Antibody (D15) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CYP1A2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-CYP1A2 antibody (D15) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CYP1A2, also known as Cytochrome P450 1A2, is a crucial heme-thiolate monooxygenase enzyme that plays a significant role in the NADPH-dependent electron transport pathway of liver microsomes. This enzyme is essential for the oxidative metabolism of a wide range of substrates, including fatty acids, steroids, and xenobiotics, which are foreign compounds that can be harmful to the body. CYP1A2 is involved in the metabolism of several important drugs, such as imipramine, propranolol, and clozapine, making CYP1A2 vital for pharmacokinetics and drug interactions. Localization to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane is critical for CYP1A2 function, as this positioning allows for efficient interaction with substrates and the electron transport chain. CYP1A2 is subject to induction by various compounds, including 3-methylcholanthrene, insulin, modafinil, and hyperforin, while CYP1A2 activity can be inhibited by fluoroquinolone antibiotics, caffeine, fluvoxamine, and cimetidine. CYP1A2′s involvement in estrogen metabolism has been linked to a reduced risk of breast cancer, highlighting CYP1A2′s significance in both drug metabolism and cancer biology.

Can you recommend a positive control to use with CYP1A2 (D15): sc-53241 for Western blot?

Asked by: jenni
We recommend rat liver (sc-2395) or human liver (sc-363766) tissue extracts to use as positive controls as we have Western blot data showing specific detection of Rab 7 in these cell lines.
