Creatine kinase-M Antibody (MM-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects creatine kinase-M in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Creatine kinase-M is a muscle tissue-specific isoform of creatine kinase, consisting of 381 amino acids, and plays a crucial role in energy metabolism by catalyzing the transfer of phosphate from creatine to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to regenerate adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the primary energy currency of the cell. This function is particularly important in muscle tissues, where rapid ATP regeneration is essential during periods of high energy demand, such as during intense physical activity. Creatine kinase-M is predominantly found in skeletal muscle and cardiac tissue, where creatine kinase-M helps maintain energy homeostasis and supports muscle contraction. Creatine kinase-M is also involved in the regulation of calcium homeostasis, which is vital for muscle function and overall cellular health. Anti-creatine kinase-M antibody (MM-2) enables researchers to effectively study the expression and regulation of creatine kinase-M in various physiological and pathological contexts, enhancing our understanding of muscle metabolism and related disorders.
