CRBP I Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CRBP I of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CRBP I (B-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The cellular retinol-binding proteins, including CRBP I, play a crucial role in the transport and metabolism of vitamin A, which is vital for numerous biological processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and vision. CRBP I is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is essential for the cellular uptake of retinol, where CRBP I solubilizes and detoxifies this hydrophobic molecule, facilitating transport and conversion into retinoic acid, the active form of vitamin A. The structure of CRBP I, characterized by a β-barrel formed from ten antiparallel β-strands and two α-helices, provides a protective environment for retinol, ensuring stability and bioavailability for subsequent enzymatic reactions. CRBP I is expressed in various human tissues, including the ovary, adrenal and pituitary glands, and testis, with CRBP I expression being modulated by transforming growth factor beta. Understanding the function and structure of CRBP I is essential for elucidating CRBP I′s role in retinoid metabolism and implications in health and disease.
