SEE ALSO...

Cox-1 Antibody (H-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody designed to detect Cyclooxygenase-1 (Cox-1), also known as Prostaglandin-Endoperoxide Synthase 1 (PTGS1). Cox-1 is a crucial enzyme located in the endoplasmic reticulum and nuclear envelope of cells, where Cox-1 catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2, a key precursor in the synthesis of various prostaglandins involved in maintaining physiological functions such as gastric mucosal protection, platelet aggregation, and renal blood flow regulation. The structure of Cox-1, which includes a heme group essential for enzymatic activity, allows Cox-1 to interact with a range of proteins, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin, which inhibit Cox-1 activity by binding to the active site. Additionally, Cox-1 interacts with other proteins involved in the prostaglandin synthesis pathway, facilitating efficient regulation of inflammatory and homeostatic processes. Anti-Cox-1 antibody (H-1) is raised against a peptide mapped to the C-terminus of mouse Cox-1 and demonstrates robust reactivity with Cyclooxygenase-1 from both mouse and rat origins in applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), without cross-reactivity to Cyclooxygenase-2 (Cox-2). This high specificity ensures accurate detection and analysis of Cox-1 in various research settings, enabling scientists to investigate Cox-1′s role in both normal physiological processes and pathological conditions where prostaglandin synthesis is disrupted. By targeting Cox-1, researchers can explore interactions with therapeutic agents, study the mechanisms underlying inflammatory responses, and develop strategies for managing diseases related to prostaglandin imbalance. Cox-1 monoclonal antibody (H-1) is an indispensable tool for advancing research in areas such as inflammation, vascular biology, and drug development.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-166573 P appropriate for?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
