Cortactin Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to detect Cortactin, also known as CTTN or Ems-1, a crucial protein predominantly located in the cytoplasm where it regulates the actin cytoskeleton. Raised against amino acids 309-499 of human Cortactin, anti-Cortactin antibody (H-5) exhibits broad species reactivity, effectively recognizing Cortactin from mouse, rat, and human origins. Cortactin plays an essential role in various cellular processes, including cell motility, endocytosis, and maintaining cell shape, making Cortactin (H-5) antibody vital for studies on cellular architecture and dynamics. Cortactin monoclonal antibody (H-5) is versatile in applications, suitable for western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), thereby accommodating a wide range of experimental needs. Structurally, Cortactin contains tandem 37 amino acid repeats at the N-terminus and an SH3 domain at the C-terminus, which are critical for interaction with filamentous actin (F-actin) and various signaling molecules. Phosphorylation by Src p60 kinase regulates F-actin binding and cross-linking, modulating cytoskeletal functions and influencing cellular structural integrity. Additionally, Cortactin responds to growth factors such as FGF-1, highlighting involvement in signal transduction pathways. Abundant expression in megakaryocytes and platelets suggests a significant role in maturation and function of these cells. Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Cortactin (H-5): sc-55579 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
