COL4A Antibody (COL-94) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects COL4A protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-COL4A antibody (COL-94) is available as a non-conjugated format. COL4A protein is a crucial component of type IV collagen, which forms the structural framework of basement membranes, providing support and anchorage for various tissues. COL4A′s unique structure, characterized by a triple helix domain, is essential for maintaining the integrity and stability of the extracellular matrix. This structural feature allows COL4A to interact with other proteins, such as laminins and nidogens, which are vital for the formation of functional basement membranes. The proper assembly and maintenance of these membranes are critical for tissue homeostasis, influencing processes such as filtration in the kidneys and providing a barrier in epithelial tissues. Disruptions in COL4A function can lead to various diseases, including Alport syndrome and other connective tissue disorders, highlighting the importance of this protein in both health and disease.
