CNTF Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CNTF protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-CNTF antibody (A-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) is a crucial neuropoietic cytokine that promotes the survival and differentiation of various cell types, including sensory, sympathetic, and motor neurons. CNTF activates the CNTF receptor complex, which consists of CNTFRα and a heterodimer of gp130 and LIFRb chains. This activation triggers transcription factors Stat1 and Stat3, leading to enhanced DNA synthesis. CNTF has been implicated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), highlighting potential therapeutic applications. While mice lacking CNTF show certain deficiencies, those with a homozygous null mutation in CNTFRα experience perinatal mortality and severe motor neuron deficits, suggesting essential roles in neonatal nervous system development.
